Petite but gets the job done quickly!
This is a handy little gadget! Works very quickly. Shredded cheese is not always available where I live but sometimes I can get a 2 lb or a half pound block of cheddar or pepper jack. I buy it and stock it up in the freezer. When I need shredded cheese I just take that out and defrost in the refrigerator then cut it in the chunks and run it through this shredder. It works excellent. Since the pepper jack is softer and both of the cheeses have been frozen before, I thought I might have some problems but I did not at all.Concerns that people have had in other reviews that I read before I bought this stated that it might not stick to the countertop or that the cheese gummed up in the drum.Both could be true…. As long as my countertop is clean I’ve had no problem with the shredder suction cup sticking to the counter. There’s a little knob on the side of the shredder that will either be facing you if you are right-handed, or turned away from you if you’re left-handed. Make sure your suction cup is plumb on the countertop and then turn that knob and you shouldn’t have any problems.As for that cheese filling up the drum because it doesn’t fall out well, this is true. The fix is really quick, though. I just pause every after every chunk I’ve run through and I just kind of put a butter knife in the drum and reach to the back and pull the cheese out with it. It all pops right out. If you don’t pull it out and continue to shred your cheese it will get clogged up and you will have a mess. For the price of this and how well it works it’s worth it to just pull the cheese out. Heck, if you’re the only one eating it and your hands are clean, use your fingers to pull the cheese out.We don’t have a lot of fresh vegetables where I live so I haven’t had a chance to use it on much except carrots and it works just fine.I would definitely recommend this if you just need it for small amounts. I’ve been cooking for up to 30 people and using this for my needs and I’m quite happy.

Are you a baker? Super FAST way to grate frozen butter!
OK, so I read a BUNCH of reviews prior to purchase, and I hope to address a few issues that others have mentioned.As noted in my headline, I bought this to grate frozen butter for baking. (It’s a thing.) Literally took me about 30 seconds to get the job done. And I’m sure that it will work just as well for cheese and veggies. Plastic is thick and feels sturdy. The two biggest issues that people seem to mention are the handle coming off and the suction releasing.RE: Handle – a number of reviews mention that the handle comes apart/doesn’t stay in place/breaks. I realize that I’ve only used it once, but there is a handle lock that snaps in firmly. If you don’t hear the “click” that connects the handle to the drum, you’re not doing it right.RE: Suction – Another complaint is that many rotary cutters won’t stay stuck. This one did! A couple of things to remember: the counter you’re using MUST be smooth and DRY. If you have a slightly textured laminate countertop or textured tile, it may not work for you. (If you have a glass top oven, they work great!) The dial for the suction is very clearly marked to show which way to turn it to lock and unlock it from the counter. I suppose that with use, suction may be compromised, as the center of the bottom is plastic, and the edge is rubber. The rubber must be sealed completely to the plastic center to pull up and create the suction. If I lose suction, that will be the first thing I check. (And then reattach the plastic to the rubber with some good adhesive.)RE: Drums – Some drums on others are cone shaped. This one is cylindrical. I’ve seen others that have cutting plates that snap onto the central wheel. Here, each type of cutting (fine, coarse and slices) has its own wheel, made of metal, and trimmed in plastic, with no plastic seam along the length of the drum.RE: Chute – this chute is angled and locks into place. I read many reviews where people complained that the chute was parallel to the counter. Not an issue here, as it is angled, and food came out easily. When I got to the end, I did need to dig out the shreds with a small rubber spatula, as butter is sticky, and I’m sure that even in the short time the it took to grate, the end of the stick was much softer than it was when I started. (Next time I try, I’m going to freeze the drum and the catch bowl and see if that helps. I’d probably do the same if I was trying to shred a soft cheese like muenster or mozzarella – and I’d freeze the cheese the day I was going to shred it.)RE: Feeder Tube – Although I only used this to shred butter (so far) It looks to me that the feeder tube is wide enough to fit a zucchini in. I do wish that it was a bit taller as the butter stuck out the top, and the pusher is angled as well (due to the angle of the chute), which made it a tiny bit difficult to start. I could’ve cut the stick into 2 pieces but was being lazy. (If I had cut it in half, the feeder was not large enough to put both pieces in next to each other, so I would have had to shred in two batches.)RE: Handedness (yes, you read that right, and it is a word!) – I read a complaint that this couldn’t be used by a left-handed person. I’m right-handed, and for a “righty” to use this, look at which direction to turn the lock knob BEFORE you set it down, as the dial will be facing away from you. In this regard, it would probably be easier to be left-handed. Once you’ve got it locked down, a right-handed person will turn the crank away from themself (starting with the handle at the top) and a lefty will turn the crank toward themself.RE: Cleaning – Although others are marked as dishwasher safe, this one specifically says that hand-wash is preferred. Because the locking parts are made of plastic, and I don’t want it to become brittle from the heat of a dishwasher, I’m just going to suck it up and hand wash. It’s only 3 parts, and I don’t want to break it because I’m being lazy.Lastly… For everyone that complains (not just here, but I always see this in Amazon reviews) about receiving a used item… return it. It’s not the manufacturer’s fault that someone else used and returned something that got shipped to you… that’s on Amazon. Don’t penalize the manufacturer with a bad review!

The shredder came well packaged and quick. The unit goes together pretty straight forward and they did a great job in design to make the “chute” actually pointing down. The clear plastic snaps into the base, and you might have to work the release button a few times to get it to pull back off. Do the assembly a few time and it becomes a lot easier. NOTE: attach the base to a CLEAN wiped down counter top and for my unit, it really sucked down great and held steady. In initial assembly, DO use the suction to hold the base down before adding the clear plastic housing.The individual cutting drums are all assembled with their own plastic body so no need to do an assembly of parts when you change drums. The drum end has an open notch on opposite side, just line up the handle “notch” to one of the drum’s open notches and it clicks right in. THIS hold it well in the cutting chamber.I made up hash brown potatoes VERY quick, in just seconds actually. It cuts the potato in small shreds quite easily. Clean up with potatoes was a breeze. Parts come apart easily and easy to merely rinse off under running water. Easy to clean. Potatoes are one thing, but cheese might take just a bit longer due to the nature of cheese.I buy Great Value Shredded Potatoes (hash browns) at Walmart the other day for $3.42 a 26oz bag, which equals $ 0.131/oz (roughly 13 Cents/Oz) I also bought 5 pound bag of potatoes at a cost of $3.77 = 80oz = $0.0471 per oz. So I can make shredded potatoes for hash browns, using potatoes at $ 4.7 cents / oz versus Frozen shredded potatoes at 13 cents/oz. Frozen potatoes would actually cost $10.40 to be the equivalent of 5# of potatoes. If you do the math, and eat a lot of hash browns for breakfast over the weeks and months, this unit pays for itself in saved money.I have only one thought is that if you shred a potato with one of those flat hand held shredders, you can go more “length” way of the potato and get longer shreds. This, because of the limited chute, will only take a potato inserted by it’s long end. So you may not get the long shreds (if that is what you are after) but rather short length shreds. My wife does not care :)Bottom line: It saves money and may save you band aids for cut knuckles from using a hand held shredder. It is a LOT safer to use the pusher then to risk cutting your knuckles on a flat shredder.ADDENDUM: The large grater blades are not exceptionally sharp when I got it, but would work. I used my Dremmel Rotary tool with a long stone one uses to sharpen chain saw teeth and went into each hole methodically touching up the cutting edge. It is not razor sharp, but just that increase of sharpness made doing hashbrown potatoes SO much more effortless. It took a very good cutter and Made It Great! Even if you don’t improve the cutting edge, it will still work alright. Just if you have the skill or know someone who is skilled with sharpening, you can touch up the edges if they wear down, or even improve the original cutters.

I love this thing. Just don’t get to going to ham on it and clog up the chamber. Make sure you keep the cheese coming out or it will pack in there tight and almost make a ball. Also works great for boiled eggs and onion when needing fine grated onion.

I love this thing we make homemade cheese sauces all the time and got tired of cutting my fingers or taking forever to get through a block of cheese. I shredded a wedge of Parmesan in less than 2 mins. I saw comments about the suction I had a slight problem once I assessed my counter and the bottom of the suction and it was a user error not the machine. Your counter has to be clean and dry my counter was wet slightly also make sure the bottom of the suction is clean no crumbs or dirt stick to it. Everyone was checking it out at a party I had and 3 other ppl buy it.

I had recent hand surgery and couldn’t hold the box grater for shredding cheese. I bought this grater as a temporary “fix” to my problem. Now that my hand is all better, I’ve sworn off the box grater and this is my go-to. It’s so easy and fast to use! Cleans easily and the countertop suction is amazing. That thing won’t budge until the release switch is moved. It seemed like a silly thing to get for a temporary solution, but wow, it’s great!

A handy tool to use
I have arthritic issues throughout my body but especially in my hands. My grip strength is especially frustrating when I need to use a grater. This item has been a big help in that regard. I can easily assemble the grater and use the crank-style handle which is much easier on my hands and fingers. This grater does suction to my kitchen bench nicely, however the bench top and grater base needs to been very clean and the bench top must also be non porous. One fun thing I use it for is biscuits. Instead of cutting the cold butter into the dry ingredients (a lot of effort and extra clean up!), I simply place a cold stick of butter in the grater chute and press/grate it using the large grater wheel. Then I put the grated butter into my bowl of dry ingredients and give it a brief stir to coat the bits of butter in the dry ingredients.

I love to cook, and I have always known that freshly grated cheese is far superior to pregrated cheese. I just hated the amount of time it took to shred and how difficult it is to shred the last little piece. This grater is effortless to use and very quick. I only buy block cheese now.Cleaning it isn’t bad at all. We don’t like to put plastic in the dishwasher, so we wash it by hand. It’s really quick because the grater’s surface area is considerably smaller than a traditional grater.

This thing is awesome. It shreds cheese so quickly the block is done before you can even sneeze. It says not to put it in the dishwasher, but we have a few times so far and no problem. It works great to shred zucchini, too, but I haven’t tried any other veggies yet. We were using a box grater before, and I’d shred the back of my fingers every time, but this thing is super safe as long as you use the thing that helps you feed it in. My only complaint is that the cheese does get a little stuck and you have to pull it out. If it is softer, it may get stuck together a little bit.

I love this little grater! It’s easy to use, easy to disassemble and clean, and it’s takes so little time to do a lot. I mainly use it for veggies and cheese. It suctions well, sometimes it will pop up during use but I think that is just my countertops fault, either way it suctions back down easy and no big deal. Only other semi con is it’s bulkier to store but you can’t get around that. All in all, I think it’s grate 😉

I needed this SO badly. I shred cheese often for pizza making, and doing it with a box shredder is such a pain, literally and metaphorically. This takes so much of my grief away. It shreds cheese far faster than by hand, is WAY easier, the suction works really nicely on my counter, and the cleaning process takes no more than 3 minutes. The build quality is pretty nice, for being plastic construction. Everything is easy to assemble and disassemble. All around, 6/5 stars, this was such a great addition to my kitchen.

This grater is so much easier than my box grater. Clean up is super easy; I just put in dishwasher and it comes out perfect every time. It took me a couple of trys to figure out how to use it without pulling it off the counter but once I had that down, it’s been a breeze. Love it and would highly reccomend.

I will never buy bagged pre-shredded cheese again. This is so simple to use, my kids love helping with it. All of our recipes taste so much better using block cheese and shredding ourselves. Easy clean up and does the job in a fraction of the time!

I really love using this product. It’s very simple, and shreds cheese within seconds. It’s very easy to set up, and also take apart to clean. I wish I would have gotten one sooner. I also use it for thinly sliced cucumbers.. Would recommend to anyone limited on time that needs to grate food fast

My new favorite kitchen gadget
Mostly use to shred cheese and few veggies. Light weight, better than having to drag out food processor for smaller jobs. Easy to clean and assemble, just make sure you snap on the handle securely. So far the suction works great. Only wish it was on the other side, easier to reach.

This makes shredding your own cheese so easy and fast. I haven’t used it to shredd or slice vegetables yet but as far as shredding cheese it’s so easy. I love that you can lock it to your counter top. It is easy to assemble and disassemble. Very easy to clean, you don’t need non stick cooking spray, just soap and water.

If you’ve been thinking about grating your own cheese, this is your sign to do it. Spend the money, buy the thing, and make the best shredded cheese of your life. I saved money already by shredding my own cheese and it’s delicious and melts better. It’s so easy to use and easy to clean. I just pop it in the dishwasher.

Makes life so easy
I love this little gadget. I was put in charge of making Mac and cheese for the holidays and this literally cut down the time it took to shred all that cheese by like 3 times. It’s so quick, the suction to the counter works great, and it’s pretty easy to clean if you just soak it in hot water for a couple minutes.
